Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) Member

The Village of Schuylerville is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). The ZBA hears and decides appeals and variance applications related to the Village Zoning Code.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a resident of the Village of Schuylerville.
• Strong interest in land use, planning, and community standards.
• Ability to review application materials and attend evening meetings as scheduled
• Willingness to complete annual training and take the Oath of Office.
• Commitment to ethical conduct and avoidance of conflicts of interest.

Responsibilities

• Review and decide area/use variances and interpretations of the Zoning Code.
• Prepare for meetings by reading staff reports, site plans, and applicant submissions.
• Deliberate in public meetings and uphold New York State Open Meetings Law.

Term & Compensation

• Appointment by the Board of Trustees to serve on ZBA
• This is a volunteer position
