The NYS Empire Trail merges with the Old Champlain Canal Tow Path and runs through Historic Fort Hardy Park.

Hudson Crossing Park, centered on Champlain Canal Lock C5 Island and bordered by the Hudson River, offers scenic views, picnic facilities, educational waysides, and more than 2 miles of trails lined with locally crafted sculptures.

From Hudson Crossing Park, you cross over the beautifully restored historic Dix Bridge over the Hudson, pass through Clarks Mills and continue north on County Route 113, a fairly quiet country road to continue on the Empire Trail to River Road, a very quiet winding road that follows the Old Champlain Canal to Lock five north of Fort Miller and from there continue on Route 4 to Fort Edward, another NYS Empire Trail Town.
